The Annual KRB Bowraville Holiday Camp
for children  of St Mary's Primary School Bowraville

When: Monday 27 September-  Friday 1 October, 2010
Where: Bowraville near Nambucca Heads on the  North Coast. Closest airport is Coffs Harbour. It is about 6 hr drive from  Sydney.
Why: This is a a wonderful opportunity to share in a  practical way the ongoing partnership that the KRB Community (rscj,  students, staff. parents, alumnae and friends) has established with the  community of Bowraville over the last 6 years. This year we will be  celebrating the new school building and of course "The Kitchen- Heart of the  School" that NSWSCA Inc has helped build.
Everyone is welcome and can  contribute in some way- food preparation and cooking classes, games, arts  and crafts, and getting to know girls who may attend KRB in the future and  their families. In return you will experience the friendship we have with  this indigenous community and learn much about their deepest hopes and  dreams.
Accommodation at Marcel Towers, Nambucca Heads has  been booked but we need to give them final numbers immeditaley. There are  other Holiday Units and motels also available in the area.
For  bookings or more information please contact Penny Sturrock 0409 309 344 or  torlonia@bigpond.net.au ASAP .

St Mary’s Primary School Bowraville “Bloom where you are planted”

Collaboration with KRB Community
A Kitchen at the Heart of the School

- The school is planning major refurbishments and a main focus will be the “kitchen” as the community “heart” of the school. A major reason for nearly 100% school attendance is the “meal” programme that the school undertakes, making sure that the children have access to nutritional meals at breakfast and lunch with snacks at regular intervals throughout the day. The kitchen also provides a facility for older students to undertake practical lessons that integrate nutrition, maths, home science and language as well as the opportunity to prepare and eat a “home cooked” meal.

Can this be a focus of fundraising in some way? Perhaps we could have a few “Kitchen” lunches or workshops to raise some money or find some sources of kitchen equipment and refurbishment.

Sport and Recreation Camp October 2007
- A Sport and recreation camp is proposed for a week in the October school holidays. The holiday program provides students of the school with a positive and structured holiday experience, in a town and community where there are few opportunities. Staff of KRB have enthusiastically supported this outreach over the past three years.

In 2006 5 Senior KRB students joined the “team” as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. Our KRB students from Bowraville (Zaylia and Carina in yr9 and Taylor in Yr8) will be in leadership positions at this year’s camp and other KRB students will also assist. An invitation is extended to all Alumnae, particularly those with interests or experience in Sport/Health Sciences who are interested in supporting the program. In due course it is hoped that the Universities will credit the work done by students at the camp. World Youth Day Magis 08 Experiment
- As part of the Magis08 Ignatian Program that Australia, NZ and international alumnae and students are being invited to participate in <http://www.magis08.org/index.cfm?home=1> an opportunity may be possible for involvement at St Mary’s School at Bowraville in the week prior to WYD08 (5-11 July 2008)
