Vickie called forward as Past President

Association
Many
will be so saddened to learn that Vickie Greig (nee Goyen) died
peacefully in Calvary Hospice in Sydney on Monday, June 21 following
an illness which she courageously handled over the last 18 months.
Vickie was a very, very special person. She was
a wonderful wife to John, and mother to Patrick, Kate and David,
mother in law to Paul and Jodie and devoted “Ginny” to her five grandchildren Nicholas, Sophie, Jaime, Georgie and Ben. She will be so missed by her sisters Annette Tynan, Colleen Pidcock and their families. She was predeceased by another sister, Sunny Christine.
Vickie had many friends in all walks of life.
Vickie had a special friendship with Sister Helen Antill. They
were great friends and Vickie would often take her on shopping
expeditions in her wheelchair to Miranda Mall and to visit “Helen’s families” for whom she was adoptive granny to many.
Beyond her many capabilities as a librarian and in
real estate, Vickie was generous in everything she said and in
everything she did. She also had a wonderful sense of fun. Vickie
was one of the most generous persons I have known. During her illness
over the last two years her beautiful character shone ever brighter.
She kept affirming her love for us all and was so appreciative
of everything and everyone. She was an inspiration and a joy to
be with.
Vickie served as President of the NSW Sacre Coeur
Association in the 1990’s and was Vice President of AMASC (the World Sacre Coeur Association) between 1998-2002 and responsible for staging the successful XII World Congress of Alumnae in Sydney in 2002.
Many international alumnae also met Vickie. She
took Kate to Genoa AMASC Congress in 1994 and the alumnae of Chile,
Peru, Colombia, and Venezuela will remember Vickie who visited
there with me in 1999; my AMASC Board will remember the hospitality
which Vickie extended to them during our meeting here in 2000;
and many who attended the Sydney AMASC Congress would have met
Vickie.
She will be so missed by many.
We shall miss you Vickie, but we have so many happy, happy memories.
